It has been a lovely week of quizzes and making! We've learned loads about the festival of Halloween and looked at our skills and what our next steps are.
I was amazed at the quality and standard of the writing in 1st class. Today was dress up day for Temple Street. There were some fabulous costumes, well done everyone!

We are looking at Oíche Shamhna this week. We learned about the history of Halloween, and talked about how some people celebrate it! We made pumpkins, ghosts, púca and mummy's!
It has also been quiz week, and we've been looking back at what we've been learning so far in Rang a hAon. As well as working hard in English, Maths. Gaeilge and all of the other things we have to learn about in school, we've had super fun this week exploring the world of trees and the changes that happen to them in Autumn.
We wrote our own tree books, and took them home to show everyone! We built amazing woodland structures with twigs and mala and sequenced the brilliant story 'The Squirrels who Squabbled'. Well done also to Jack and Emma, who the class elected as our Student Council members for this year! Have a super weekend everyone. It has been a great week, and we've worked hard to develop our reading and writing skills whilst writing our 'Hibernating Animals' books. We found out loads of interesting things... but I'll leave that to the children to tell you! We are learning about Autumn. We are building homes for hibernating animals. We made leaf prints and it was so much fun. We are making animal books. David was reading to us about hibernating animals like bats and dormice and also bears and butterflies. We cut out leaves and stuck them on a tree. The leaves are actually painted and printed on a page. But there are also some leaves on the tree at the back of the classroom. We went into the forest to collect leaves as well.
by Molly, Julia and Jack Just a quick note to say "Well done!" to Explorer's Class. After school yesterday I spent some time looking at some of the work the children have done so far this year and I was amazed by the hard work, creativity and skills on display! Keep it up everyone!
Today, we learned what our new topic is going to be for the next couple of weeks..
Autumn! We talked about what we know about autumn already, and what we would like to find out about this wonderful season as well. Some of the questions we hope to answer are;
We went into the woods to explore and collect leaves for Art. It was a fabulous chance to experience Autumn in its windy glory! We found leaves, pine cones, conkers, berries, fungi and a squirrel was even spotted! Over the next two weeks we will be exploring our school woods. Please make sure that you have shoes that you don’t mind getting wet and mucky! We learnt about electricity this week in Aistear. We made people's hair stand on end with static electricity, built circuits to make a light glow, a motor turn, and a buzzer buzz! We even learned all about atoms and some funny things called electrons. 1st class were very excited to learn that everything is made from atoms, even though they are super super super tiny! We talked about how many brilliant things use electricity, but we learned that we had to be very careful with electricity as well. We made posters to warn people of the dangers of not respecting electricity.
